Irkutsk Lyceum students will implement research projects in the laboratories of Irkutsk State Technical University on the basis of a cooperation agreement. The document, signed by the University and Lyceum of ISU in Irkutsk, provides for the organization of career guidance among high school students: 9-11 forms.
According to the director of the Institute of Physics and Technology (PTI) at ISTU, Nikolay Ivanov, the research facilities of the university has to create an enabling environment to improve the quality of profile of science education at the Lyceum of ISU."We arrange extracurricular research for the students. In July, the first groups of high school students of the physics and mathematics direction and science have passed the practice in the university laboratories. A tour in ISTU Technopark was organized for school students, and the young researchers performed laboratory work under the guidance of teachers of the university and senior students within two weeks. Lyceum Students were familiar with the unique equipment, which is presented in the laboratories of probe and electron microscopy. The value of the equipment is that it is not only for research but also to teach students ", said N. Ivanov.
Head of the Laboratory of probe microscopy, Igor’ Petrushenko, told to the lyceum students that the microscope "Solver" allows taking images of nano-objects with almost atomic resolution; it means, it increases at least in one million times. Assistance in the laboratory work to students is provided by postgraduate student of FTI, Pavel Tsiganov, and fourth year student of FTI, Mikhail Yur’ev.
