INRTU to design educational course for master program within the frame of ESSENCE Erasmus+ project

The educational course “Digital technologies for protection and communication” will be designed at INRTU within the frame of the Erasmus + project “Establishing smart energy system curriculum at Russian and Vietnamese universities”, ESSENCE. The course is being designed for the purpose of modernization and actualization of master programs in “Electric power engineering and electrical engineering” area of study. The disciplines were distributed among partner universities during the meeting at Grenoble INP (France) on April 4-6.

Representatives of European and Russian universities-members of the project consortium took part in the meeting. Professor Konstantin Suslov from the School of Power Engineering and Varvara Panko, Head of the Unit at the Department for International Cooperation, represented INRTU in the meeting.

The initial list of disciplines was made on the basis of the questionnaire poll held among students, professors, and power enterprises employers. In the course of the discussion the project research supervisors from the partner universities selected the most important nine theoretical and one practical course out of twenty preselected ones.

The disciplines will be designed in English as well as in the national languages of the universities involved in the project.

According to Professor Konstantin Suslov, upon the courses design completion it will be known precisely which ones will be included in master programs at INRTU.

“Now our master programs reflect the latest scientific advances, and thanks to this project they will be improved much more. Life does not stand still and we should constantly modernize our educational system and apply new educational technologies. In this case we can be guided the experience of the partner and foreign universities and leading companies. This program will be competitive in the world’s educational market,” noted Konstantin Suslov.

Besides, Professor Suslov mentioned that all developers of the courses are to undergo an internship in accordance with the chosen areas of study in Grenoble in late April.

The new disciplines will be included in the educational process at INRTU in 2019.

It should be reminded that Irkutsk Technical University started the first phase of the project in November, 2017. The program is funded by the European Commission within the frame of Erasmus+ Programme. The project is aimed at the establishment of joint educational program in smart energy systems in accordance with the European quality standards. The program plans that students will have the opportunity to learn some disciplines at their home university and the other – at partner universities. The University faculty will take part in the exchange programs as well.

REFERENCE: Erasmus + is a European Council program provided for the period of 2014-2020 and aimed at supporting projects, cooperation, and academic mobility in the fields of education, training, sports, and youth policy.
