INRTU PhD student Nikita FEDORKO presented advanced technologies of coal production at the international forum in Krasnoyarsk

PhD student of INRTU Institute of Mineral Resource Management and Processing Nikita FEDORKO presented his experience of using Wirtgen combine in coal-mining industry of the Russian Federation at II international theoretical and practical conference “Open cast mining in XXI century”. The scientific forum was held at business and exhibition centre “Siberia” in Krasnoyarsk city.



According to Nikita FEDORKO, the conference brought together specialists of leading mining companies such as JSC SUEK Krasnoyarsk, OJSC SUEK Kuzbass, Uralugol, LLC Chitaugol, OJSC Primorskugol, OJSC ALROSA, OJSC Kharanorsky and others. The scientists of Great Britain and Poland also took part in the forum.



During three days the participants of the forum discussed current trends and new technologies in the field of development of technologies of open cast mining, economy of mineral resource management and processing, construction design and development of mining engineering systems, industrial and environmental safety in Krasnoyarsk city.



Nikita FEDORKO who also works in the capacity of specialist for production and innovation development and investment appraisal at LLC “Vostsibugol Company” made a presentation within the section “Mechanization, automation and robotization”. “Vostsibugol Company” staff have been successfully using pit-run combine Wirtgen 2200 SM into the production at the opencast colliery Cheremkhovskii for more than 10 years. Studying of combine operation technology underlay his PhD thesis, which a young scientist plans to defense next year. 



”I have been studying operation of the combine Wirtgen 2200 SM at the opencast colliery Cheremkhovskii for 3 years. This combine is applied in Australia, India and Canada for a long time. In Russia it is generally used to take off an old road carpet by asphalt laying. 



Within the presentation I reported how milling depth affects coal production, how barrel operates, and what the combine traverse speed results in. During the operation the machine proved to be quite efficient from the economical point of view. However we found some features, for example absence of irrigation system results in coal freezing in case of subzero temperatures in Siberia”, - Nikita FEDORKO noted.



As Nikita FEDORKO considers, the combine Wirtgen 2200 SM also has an influence on environment and coal quality: “If traditional gross method is used, coal quality decreases, if selective mining with combines is used, coal characteristics are better and harmful environmental effect is lower”. 



In addition, an exhibition of suppliers of mining equipment, mining and service companies including LLC Technoavia-Krasnoyarsk, CJSC Krasnoyarsk-Vostok Service, LLC Krasnoyarsk-Belaz Service, LLC Center of industrial equipping was held within the forum.



Excursion to opencast colliery Borodinskii was organized by the end of the forum. Currently rated capacity of the opencast colliery amounts to 26 million tons per one year.

A particular attention of scientific society was paid to problems of production organization and personnel management, development of mining equipment operability assurance system, quality management, mineral resource management and multipurpose utilization.

The conference “Open cast mining in XXI century” was organized by SUEK (Siberian Coal Energy Company), Institute of integrated development of subsoil of Russian Academy of Sciences and Research Institute of Open cast mining.
